PAC (PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE)
Parents are valued partners in the educational process, serving as the child’s teacher in the home. All school and district activities will give proper consideration to the involvement of parents. A Parent Advisory Council consisting of parents, Title I Coordinators/Contact persons, administrators, members of the community and other districtwide staff. The Parent Advisory Committee will be chosen from family volunteers. The goal is to have family members play a vital role in decision making regarding the Title I, Part A program.

BRIGHTER BITES
YLS participates in a collaborative partnership with Brighter Bites which brings fresh produce co-op to Young Learner families that includes an educational component. For more information on how to become a YLS Brighter Bite volunteer, please contact volunteer coordinator, Jessica Perez or click here.

SDMC (SHARED DECISION MAKING COUNCIL)
YLS stakeholders implement campus-level learning and decision making process which is aligned with the process approved by the Houston Independent School District (HISD) Board of Education in 1992. Our process involves the creation and maintenance of a Shared Decision-Making Committee (SDMC) and a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC).

Each committee is designed to involve professional and non-professional staff, parents, community members, and business representatives in establishing academic and other performance objectives of the school for each academic excellence indicator adopted in the Texas Education Code (TEC §11.253, TEC §39.051).

The YLS SDMC members meet at least once a year as required to discuss the performance of our school and school objectives.
