Young Learners, in collaboration with the local ISD, identifies and serves students based on referrals made by an Intervention Assistance Team. When there are concerns about a child’s educational progress, the Intervention Assistance Team (IAT) process is initiated. The IAT process is a collaborative problem-solving process utilized to identify and develop interventions that will assist the student in becoming successful in the classroom. The IAT process is truly a child-centered process that is utilized prior to any special education referral. Special Education referrals are made after classroom interventions have been considered and the IAT suspects the presence of a disability.
